Another blog real quick.
I ended up going to the Winter Dew Tour in Vermont this year. Shit was outa control. I managed to get myself a media pass with big ups to Nick Hamilton from Transworld. I can safely say it was one of the best weekends of my life. To sum it up…
When I got on my plane to Vermont from Chicago, I met a rad guy by the name of Brad. Turns out he was the main announcer for the event and many other snowboarding events around the country. It’s good to network…even on airplanes. Knowing him came in handy later in the weekend when he’d help me get into places I wasnt allowed haha.
I got to ride Stratton. My friend Greg and his friends were demoing boards the whole time, but I was easily entertained by the simple idea I could listen to more than 30 seconds of a song on my way down a hill. Here in Michigan it takes about 4-5 minutes to get up a hill, and 30 seconds down. Although VT rides a lot like MI (icy and hard, no pow) it was still amazing. My legs were worn out even though I played it safe. I didnt want to break an arm my first day there at the beginning of my trip.
Then we went to the Dew Tour the next day. The resort was huge and was filled with people. We signed in, got our media passes and were on our way. I took some photos of pipe practice- which some ended up being my favorite shots. Again, met other photogs which was nice.
The whole weekend was out of control. I won a brand new HTC Verizon phone. I found a VIP pass on the ground and got into even more restricted places. And I ended up getting into the offish after party at Snowbird. I even ended up in the VIP upstairs and was basically two feet away from Jamie Anderson and her Dew Cup as Sage Kostenburg walked around with his big novelty check and everyone was drinking away. Pretty much the high light of my trip was that night. I really still cant believe I made it.
