Sarah Eyk are you kidding me? shaun is all in it for the competitions. sure he throws done and yeah progresses, but where are his friends? he rides with no one. has no fun in the sport. his main focus is to win in these comps. snowboarding is about you and your homies riding together, challenging each other, and yeah, having FUN. shaun has no fun unless he wins.
Phil Dutchak I’m sure he’s also having fun while winning competitions. I know I would. And I’m also pretty sure he has friends to ride with. No body rides solo all the time. He’s not in the spotlight for free riding with his buds.

Josh Huver I think that Shaun is definitely the main icon for the sport. An icon can be defined as a symbol that EVERYONE, even people outside the tight knit circles of snowboarding cliques i.e. your average person, can recognize and identify the sport with. I don’t think anyone has been as widely associated with snowboarding as shaun white, and travis rice’s absence from the olympics only solidify that. and as far as saying he’s not the best pipe rider out there, NO ONE came close to him last night; his highest scoring run was a victory lap where he was just dicking around and yes, having fun. He goes higher harder and faster than everyone out there. who cares if he rides alone? he’ll beat (almost) everyone he rides with 9/10 times. he has two olympic gold medals in the halfpipe, he is the best. bringing up losses doesn’t matter either. everyone loses, even michael phelps loses sometimes. those that beat them have RARE bragging rights. beating them is such a special thing because they ARE they best.
